What I’ve been up to lately

I have terribly neglected my blog for several weeks now. It is not that I haven’t been creative at all, I was just too lazy to upload the pics. It is summer after all, and there are so many things to do off the computer. Anyway, I wanted to share. So here is my personal Mosaic Monday:

In den letzten Wochen habe ich meinen Blog ganz schön vernachlässigt. Kreativ bin ich nicht gewesen, nur zu faul zum Hochladen der Bilder. Schließlich ist Sommer und da gibts viel mehr als nur “Computern”. Die Bilder wollte ich euch dennoch zeigen, deshalb hier mein ganz persönlicher Mosaik-Montag:

TMTA – Magical

Magical is the new theme of TMTA. Here is my ATC. Wishing you a magical week.

Märchenhaft ist das neue Thema bei TMTA. Hier ist mein ATC. Ich wünsch euch eine magische Woche.

Wrist Cuff

So eine Manschette hatte ich schon seit einiger Zeit auf meiner To-Do-Liste. Das Thema ‘Mixed Media’ bei Mittwochstempler hat dann den Anstoß gegeben, den Feiertag zu nutzen und mich endlich mal ans Nähen zu machen. Den Anfang machte ein Stück bestickter Leinenstoff, auf den ich einen meiner Lieblingsschriftenstempel (Queen Elizabeth Background – Stamp Francisco) mit StazOn gestempelt habe. Rechts und links habe ich zwei andere Stoffe angenäht, das gesamte Stück mit Vlieseline verstärkt und im Anschluss grünes Organza und Bänder aufgenäht. Die Spitze und die Gummikordel sind mit Broken China Alcohol Ink eingefärbt. Ein echter Spaß!

Such a wrist cuff has been on my to-do list for some time. Mixed Media, the theme of Wednesdaystamper made me use the public holiday to eventually start sewing. I started by stamping one of my favourite script stamps (Queen Elizabeth Background – Stamp Francisco) with StazOn on a piece of embroidered linen fabric. Two other fabrics were added on the right and on the left, the whole piece was reinforced with interfacing, and green organza and ribbons were sewn on. The lace and the elastic cord were dyed with Broken China alcohol ink. So much fun!

TMTA – India

What strikes me most about India are the brilliant colours and I am curious to see what the other participants of TMTA come up with.
India also makes me think of the traditional medicine of India. I came across Ayurveda last year during a week of fasting with a conductor influenced by it. He even tried to introduce us to Laughter Yoga. Ever heard of that? Definitely not my kind of shoe. I love to laugh, but not  on command. Am meisten faszinieren mich an Indien die leuchtenden Farben und ich bin schon gespannt, was den anderen Teilnehmern von TMTA dazu einfällt.
Bei Indien muss ich auch an die traditionelle Heilkunst denken. Über Ayurveda bin ich letztes Jahr während einer Fastenwoche gestolpert, da unser Fastenleiter davon beeinflusst war. Er hat sogar versucht, uns Lachyoga näher zu bringen. Schonmal davon gehört? Ist jedenfalls echt nicht mein Ding. Ich lache zwar gern, aber nicht auf Kommando. Wer jetzt aber neugierig geworden ist, oder gern mal lachen möchte, sollte sich dieses Video anschauen.

TGIF – Striped Trousers

What a great theme at Thank God It’s Friday. It is very original and there are so many different ways of interpreation. However, the first thought that popped up in my mind when I read ’striped trousers’ was Obelix. I obviously read too many comics when I was young

Das Thema bei Thank God It’s Friday ist wirklich klasse. Es ist mal was ganz anderes und lässt total viele Interpretationsmöglichkeiten offen. Der erste Gedanke, der mir bei “gestreifte Hosen” kam, war jedoch Obelix. Da hab ich in meiner Jugend wohl zu viele Comics gelesen

House-Style

I have participated in a swap where we were allowed to create anything but a plain rectangular card. So I decided for a house. The background was inspired by Hanne’s tutorial, but I used alcohol inks instead of Distress reinkers. I then brayered green and brown acrylics on bubble foil and pressed it onto the card. The stamps are from Paperbag Studios and Stamper’s Anonymous. The image originates from 1922 and is a fleamarket find.

Ich habe an einem Swap teilgenommen bei dem wir alles außer einer normalen rechteckigen Karte gestalten konnten. Meine Entscheidung fiel dann auf ein Haus. Beim Hintergrund habe ich mich von Hanne’s Tutorial inspirieren lassen, nur habe Alcohol Inks statt Distress Reinkers genommen. Danach habe ich grüne und braune Acrylfarbe mit dem Brayer auf Luftpolsterfolie aufgetragen und auf die Karte gedrückt. Die Stempel sind von Paperbag Studios und Stamper’s Anonymous. Das Bild stammt aus dem Jahr 1922 und kommt vom Flohmarkt.

TMTA – Jewels

The theme at TMTA, which is jewels/jewellery this week, gave me the opportunity to use a somewhat older stamp from Rubberbaby. Being impatient and clumsy when it comes to attaching tiny things, I challenged myself by glueing little rhinestones to the crown *g*

Durch das Thema bei TMTA, wo es diese Woche um Schmuck geht, konnte ich mal wieder einen etwas älteren Stempel von Rubberbaby benutzten. Und dann habe ich mich als ungeduldigen und grobmotorischen Menschen noch selbst herausgefordert, indem ich die kleinen Strasssteine an die Krone geklebt habe *g*

Alice in Wonderland

I am totally fascinated by the characters of Alice in Wonderland that’s why I simply had to join the challenge at Sunday Postcard Art. It’s my first time participating.

Ich bin total fasziniert von den Personen bei Alice im Wunderland und musste deshalb natürlich unbedingt bei der Challenge von Sunday Postcard Art mitmachen. Ich bin das erste Mal dabei.

Vintage Pin-Ups

Well, pin-ups in the 40s/50s were actually quite innocent compared to today. There are a couple of really nice free images on the internet to work with.  These 3 ATCs were made swap in the non-cute forum.

Also im Vergleich zu heute waren Pin-Ups in den 40er/50er-Jahren wirklich harmlos. Im Internet gibts einige nette kostenlose Bilder zum verarbeiten. Diese 3 ATCs sind für einen Tausch bei non-cute entstanden.

Mini

Ich hatte heute jede Menge Spaß mit dem tiltshiftmaker. Ganz normale Bilder werden mit diesem Tool in Miniaturlandschaften verwandelt.  Es funktioniert nicht mit jedem Foto gleich gut, aber von einigen Ergebnissen war ich echt begeistert. Hier ist z.B. ein Foto von meiner ehemaligen Studentenbude (vorne links). Sieht das nicht klasse aus?

I had so much fun today playing around with the tiltshiftmaker. Pretty normal photos are transformed into miniature style photos with this tool.  The results are different for every photo, but some turned out excellent. For instance, below you see a photo of my former student digs (front left). Doesn’t it look great?
