TGiF – Alice

I made this ATC for the Alice in Wonderland challenge over at Thank God It’s Friday.

Canvas Treasure Box

I was having a lot of fun playing around with this 3D object. The treasure box is made of two stretched canvases, connected with hinges. At first, I applied gel medium to the canvas, glued the image to one of the canvases, and pressed bubble wrap into the still damp medium to get a good texture.

Was hat das mal wieder Spaß gemacht, sich an einem 3D-Objekt so richtig auszutoben. Diese Treasure Box besteht aus zwei Keilrahmen, verbunden mit Scharnieren. Auf der Leinwand habe ich zuerst Gel Medium verstrichen, das Bild auf die Vorderseite geklebt und Blasenfolie in die noch feuchte Masse gedrückt, um eine gewisse Oberflächenstruktur zu erhalten.

After the medium had dried, I mixed acrylic paints, applied them to the surface and, finally, made a couple of prints with the bubble wrap. Then I stamped the letters, painted grungeboard and glued it to the canvas and added the clock and the lock. For the interior of the box I made two puffy hearts.

Nachdem die Masse getrocknet war, habe ich Akrylfarben gemischt und aufgetragen und zum Schluss noch einmal Abdrücke mit Blasenfolie gemacht. Dann wurden die Buchstaben gestempelt, Grungeboard bemalt und aufgelebt und die Uhr und das Schloss angebracht. Für die Innenteile der Box habe ich zwei Herzen genäht.

Gerade läuft mal wieder ein ISDI (Ich Stempel, Du Idee). Jeder der Teilnehmer stempelt 5x einen Abdruck mit einem Stempel, zu dem die zündende Idee fehlt. Diese Karten werden dann an 5 andere Teilnehmer verteilt, die eine Karte damit gestalten und der Absender bekommt somit 5 neue Ideen. Eine echte Herausforderung!
Die Karten von Fatma zu diesem Projekt habe ich echt mit Genuss angeschaut (hier, hier, hier, hier und hier). Da schauts so leicht aus… Nachdem Johanna eine ihrer Karten aus dem Jahr 2003 gezeigt, bin ich auch so mutig. Mir war danach allerdings klar, das ich a) mich absolut nicht zur Szenestemplerin eigne b) so etwas nie wieder mitmachen würde und daran habe ich mich auch gehalten … wenn ich mir allein schon diese Farben auf meiner Karte anschaue … na ja, ist lange her

The ISDI project is running again on a German list. This project was borne from the idea that we all have stamps for which we are lacking an idea. Every participant makes 5 copies of a stamp on a white cardstock. 5 other participants are now challenged to create a card with it. Et voilà, you have 5 brand new ideas for how to use your stamp. A true challenge!
I really enjoyed seeing the cards which Fatma made for this project (here, here, here, here and here). It looks so easy… Now that Johanna has shown one of her cards from 2003 (where she’s made a really good job) I am brave enough to show one of mine. However,  it turned out pretty soon that a) I don’t have a way with scenery stamping, and b) I would never ever participate in this project again and I kept to this resolution … just look at the colours on my cards … a long time ago.

Wie die Zeit vergeht

…musste ich gerade mal wieder feststellen. In diesem Monat habe ich noch nicht ein einziges Mal gepostet. Seit ich nicht mehr durch TMTA “gezwungen” bin (das war wirklich absolut freiwillig und hat viel Spaß gemacht), sitze ich tatsächlich weniger am Basteltisch. Vielleicht liegts aber auch am momentan mal wieder sehr schönem Wetter. Zumindest hab ich mal wieder ein Set ATCs fertig gestellt, ganz in türkis.

Time flies … I haven’t even written one single post this month. As I am no longer “forced” to make ATCs (although this was on a totally voluntary basis and I enjoyed it a lot) since I left TMTA I am indeed spending less hours at my crafts table. But this may also be due to the weather which is quite beautiful again. At least, I managed to finish a set of turquoise ATCs.

Fabric Postcard

So here is my first fabric postcard and it won’t be my last. This PC and two similar ones were sewn yesterday, on a wonderful Sunday afternoon while it was raining outside, in between playing Mafia Wars on Facebook

Meine erste Stoffpostkarte, aber ganz bestimmt nicht meine letzte. Diese und zwei ähnliche sind gestern – an einem herrlichen Sonntagnachmittag während es draußen regnete – entstanden, während ich zwischendurch immer mal wieder Mafia Wars auf Facebook gespielt habe

Another sewn cuff

This got to be the last one for now. Still, it’s fun to make them and I love to wear them. But there are so many other things on my to do list right now. Will make some fabric postcards this afternoon for a swap in my mixed media group. These are addictive too. Will post some pics tomorrow.

My Wild Heart

The idea behind this ATC, which I made for a swap in a Yahoo group, was a heart full of emotions consistently trying to break free. I seem to have my poetic period
The background was made with Glimmer Mist (Turqoise Blue, Mistletoe) and Distress ink (Fired Brick) and I used turqoise wire for the cage. Stamp credits Stempelmine (flying heart) and Heindesign.

Die Idee für diese ATC, das ich für einen Swap bei GibGummi gemacht habe, war ein Herz voller Emotionen, das beständig versucht auszubrechen. Hab wohl meine poetische Phase
Der Hintergrund wurde mit Glimmer Mist (Turqoise Blue, Misteltoe) und mit Distress (Fired Brick) aufgetragen. Den Käfig habe ich aus türkisfarbenem Draht gebastelt. Stempel sind von Stempelmine (fliegendes Herz) und Heindesign.

Canvas Back Shrine

Lately, I rather prefer working on 3D objects than with paper. I so enjoyed messing about with the watered down acrylics and the torn book pages. This canvas back was sent to Sandy and I just read that she has received it. Haven’t published anything so far as I wanted it to be a surprise for here, but now I can

In letzter Zeit arbeite ich lieber an 3D-Objekten als mit Papier. Es war eine herrliche Manscherei mit den verwässerten Aquarellfarben und ausgerissenen Buchseiten. Dieses Leinwandrückseite ist an Sandy gegangen und gerade habe ich gelesen, dass sie gut bei ihr angekommen ist. Hab bis jetzt noch nichts veröffentlicht, da es eine Überraschung für sie sein sollte, aber jetzt kann ich

Etwas Buntes

Another wrist cuff. They are such a wonderful adornment, don’t you think so. I have become quite addicted to them. This one was made for a swap with Angela. I hope she enjoys it.

Noch eine Manschette. Sind aber auch so tolle Schmuckstücke, findet ihr nicht auch. In letzter Zeit bin ich schon ziemlich darauf fixiert. Diese Manschette ist für einen Swap mit Angela entstanden. Hoffentlich mag sie es.
Schaut euch mal an, was für ein wunderschönes Knopfarmband sie für mich gemacht hat.

Oh I am so excited about this movie and cannot wait until it hits the cinemas in Germany. I’ve been a fan of both Tim Burton and Alice in Wonderland for ages.

Ich bin schon so gespannt auf den Film und kann es echt kaum erwarten, bis der Film nach Deutschland kommt. Bin schon seit Jahren ein Fan von Tim Burton und Alice im Wunderland.
